Today we’ll discuss the different colors of the Aero Precision Gen 2 X15 Platform. While Aero Precision recently came out with “Sniper Grey” Cerakote color, there are additional Aero lower receiver colors available for the Gen 2 platforms.

Buy a stripped lower receiver or receiver set?
People often mix and match their Aero lowers with another company’s upper receiver. That’s great – that’s what the upper tension screw is for – the correct component interface.
-
However, the best value is with the Receiver Sets. These include an assembled upper, stripped lower receiver, and sometimes a trigger guard. It’s a upper and lower receiver set in one.
- If they do not come with a trigger guard, have no fear. We carry them.
Available Aero Precision Gen 2 Reciever Set Colors

FDE
Flat Dark Earth (FDE) is another one of Aero Precision’s mainstay colors. It adds a nice “peanut butter” color rifle to your build.
These do not come with trigger guards. We sell these trigger guards at our store though.
OD Cerakote
The OD Green Aero Precision Gen 2 X15 receiver sets are a limited time product right now. We don’t anticipate another round of these until 2023.
These sets come with a trigger guard. This tells us that these special edition colors are here for only a limited time.
Burnt Bronze
The Burnt Bronze Aero Precision Gen 2 X15 receiver sets are a limited time product right now. We don’t anticipate another round of these until 2023. They’re a slightly darker version of the FDE ones.
These sets come with a trigger guard. This tells us that these special edition colors are here for only a limited time.
Tungsten (unavailable)
We cannot wait for Aero Precision to bring these back. Having been an FFL for almost a year, we’ve never seen these in stock. We’ll be sure to get some once available.
Last time, these did not include trigger guards. You will be able to purchase these here.

Who manufactures Aero Precision lowers?
Aero Precision manufactures their parts in Tacoma, Washington. All parts are made right here in the USA.
Who makes Aero Precision lowers?
We produce many of these components on our own including upper and lower receivers. Our barrel production is done by our ballistic partner.
Also in Aero Precision’s catalog includes your standard AR15 components – handguards, lower parts kits, barrels, muzzle brakes, etc.
Are Aero Precision receivers mil-spec?
Aero Precision’s manufacturing processes keep their parts machined to mil spec dimensions.
Having an AR with mil-spec dimensions means your upper and lower receivers (should) fit together nicely. While Aero Precision does its best to keep products machined to mil-spec dimensions, they cannot take into account what other manufacturers do.
What is a Gen 2 AR15?
Aero Precision Gen 2 improvement include the upper tension screw to fine tune your build (the upper tension screw is standard with all Aero Precision lowers). A tight fit will help you keep your zero and have all your parts working properly.
This allows users to refine their fit with a nylon-tapped tensioning screw in the pistol grip area of the lower receiver.
Also – the Gen 2 X15 has increased magwell flare for easier insertion for magazine changes.
There is also a set screw, which keeps the rear takedown pin in place when changing endplates or buffer kits.
Are Aero Precision builds good?
Aero builds are excellent additions to your arsenal. The Gen 2 X15 is your best bet for a budget and precision AR15 build.
The parts are a great value – and can give you the reliability you need. There’s certainly some cheaper, or perhaps better, custom parts available out there for the job. The Aero Precision products that you receive will prove their worth.
Is a FFL dealer required for an AR15 stripped lower receiver Gen 2?
You’ll need to to have stripped lowers and receiver sets shipped to your local FFL. Typically, you’ll have to pay a fee to the FFL for the transfer.
If you pick up and purchase a lower or receiver from Worth Firearms, the transfer is free with your purchase.
